Association of India has taken objection to Shimit Amin’s Chak De India saying that the film portrays the women’s hockey team in poor light. A source from the association on condition of anonymity said, “Yashraj Films had approached us for valid input into the script of the film. It was the association that showed the importance of a coach and how being trained under him lends confidence to the team. Now we hear that the team of women in Chak De India are nothing but a bunch of losers and it is only when Shah Rukh Khan trains them that they become successful. This is sad. Neither were we told about this aspect of the story, nor did we relate to it.”
Insiders also have it that the association’s annoyance with Yashraj Films is a publicity stunt. “If you have observed, the last few films by the Yashraj banner have flopped at the box-office, and with the poor response that the trailers of Chak De India got in the theatres, they are scared of yet another film falling flat. So the clash between the Women’s Hockey Association and Yashraj Films is just to trigger curiosity for the film and is nothing but a mere publicity stunt,” explained the source.

The movie revolves around the story a hockey coach for a girl’s team and a young Sikh girl who wants to join the hockey team but does not get the approval of her parents.
